NEW YORK, NY--Magnusson Architecture and Planning, PC has recently launched MAP Green, a division specializing in green consulting services for building design, green retrofit/rehabilitation, and sustainable neighborhood planning.
The MAP Green mission is to help clients achieve truly sustainable projects at any scale, ranging from an entire neighborhood to an individual building to interior spaces/retrofits.
“Magnusson Architecture and Planning was established in 1986 with a commitment to urban revitalization, sustainable planning, and high-performance building design,” says Magnus Magnusson, the firm’s managing principal. “Long before USGBC established LEED® standards, we incorporated environmentally-conscious principles in all of our designs. Now our MAP Green clients will realize the benefits of all of that cumulative experience.”
MAP Green has been the principal planner for the groundbreaking community in the South Bronx called Melrose Commons, which was recently awarded LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) Stage II Silver Certification. MAP Green is also currently working on two projects pursuing LEED Gold certification and nearing construction completion …Atlantic Terrace and El Jardin de Selene, both affordable apartment developments that are NYSERDA Energy Star certified and Enterprise Green Communities compliant.
“With our experienced and talented LEED accredited staff, it made sense to create a division dedicated to helping non-profits, developers, and property owners identify and implement sustainability strategies for each of their projects,” says Christine Hunter, MAP Principal. “MAP Green will help with setting goals, as well as coordinating and managing the entire green design process from beginning to end.”
MAP Green is an independent division that specializes in sustainability consulting. Services include: Sustainable building design, Net Zero Energy building design, Green Retrofit, LEED Accredited Professional consultation; LEED champion services in coordination of complex projects; LEED certification support for all building types; LEED for Neighborhood Development certification support; Green Design charrettes; and coordination and support for NYSERDA and other energy efficiency programs. With technical partners, MAP Green will provide: Energy Audits, Computerized Energy Modeling, Renewable Energy System Design, and Building Commissioning.
One of the key services MAP Green will provide is assistance in the identification of existing incentives and the procurement of financing for sustainable building components and design features from sources such as NYSERDA, Enterprise Foundation, Kresge Foundation, DHCR, and HPD Green Guidelines.
