SJP Properties' Somerset Corporate Center II Earns the Energy Star Award for Superior Energy Efficienc Posted By Betsy Kraat

BRIDGEWATER, NJ--SJP Properties has announced that Somerset Corporate Center II has been awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star recognition, the national symbol for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection.

Commercial buildings and industrial plants that rate in the top 25 percent of facilities in their peer group for energy efficiency can qualify for Energy Star. Somerset Corporate Center II is also registered with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and is seeking their LEED Existing Building - Operating & Maintenance certification.

Somerset Corporate Center features high-performance, energy efficient and environmentally responsible energy systems that produce low emissions and optimal indoor air quality. SJP has also received all approvals for an additional building at the site, Somerset Corporate Center VI, which will be a state-of-the-art, LEED-certified office building that will complete the master-planned community.

Commercial buildings that earn the Energy Star use an average of 40 percent less energy than typical buildings and also release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The national energy performance rating system provides a 1 to 100 scale that helps organizations assess how effectively their buildings use energy relative to similar buildings nationwide. Buildings that earn a rating of 75 or higher are eligible for Energy Star.

Somerset Corporate Center is one of SJP's signature developments, conveniently located with direct access to Interstate 78 and Interstate 287, along Routes 202/206, in close proximity to both Newark International Airport and New York City. The corporate center is surrounded by numerous hotels, including the adjacent 300-room Bridgewater Marriot Hotel and conference center.

The most prominent feature at the Somerset Corporate Center campus is the 15-acre central park around which the center's five buildings are situated. The park features numerous walking paths, sitting areas and extensive landscaping, helping to reduce environmental stress for building tenants. Additionally, private gardens at each of the five buildings include seasonal floral displays, fountains and park-style seating.
