Expo Industries Launches First 'Green' Stucco Product By Betsy Kraat

SAN DIEGO-- Expo Industries, a leader in stucco manufacturing, announces the development of the industry's first "green" stucco product, GX2 Premium Exterior Stucco.

"We initially developed the product to answer the demand for new green products for the construction industry," said Bob Papera, President of Expo Industries. "[We are pleased to announce that our new product] offers 25% more coverage than traditional stucco and efficient savings in several other areas."

Other benefits to GX2 Premium Exterior Stucco include the ability to provide the product in a 69-pound bag replacing the traditional 90-pound bag containing the same volume of material. The 26% lighter material increases production, reduces fatigue and possible back injuries. In addition to the potential labor benefits, the savings on freight means less fuel consumption and therefore less CO2 emissions.

Using Expo products can enable design and construction professionals to earn The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System points in the following categories:

Regional Materials

Expo Industries, Inc. uses locally sourced raw materials in their manufacturing process.

Recycled Content

Expo Products includes post consumer recycled and pre-consumer recycled content.

Most builders are resigned to the fact that they are facing about a 10% increase in cost to go "green". GX2 will not incur additional costs because of down stream savings.

As a member of the United States Green Building Council, Expo Industries, Inc. is committed to supporting federal, state and local governments in their development of green building programs and initiatives for sustainable, resource-efficient communities.

Product demonstrations were held at Expo Stucco facilities in San Diego and Ontario and will be followed by demos at independent dealers.
