NEW YORK--Commerce Bank is encouraging New Yorkers to "go green" during the Commerce Bank Five Boro Bike Tour on May 4.
Commerce will donate $1, up to $15,000, for every person that pledges to reduce their carbon footprint to
the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation for its Greenway Expansion Project.
Separately through the TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation, Commerce Bank is donating an additional $10,000 to the Greenway Expansion Project to support the program. The Greenway Expansion Project looks for opportunities to expand the greenway network in the City. Currently, there are approximately 45 miles of additional greenway projects and on-street connections that will significantly enhance the quality of life and environment for New Yorkers. These include projects that will link under-served communities to waterfronts and recreational destinations.
At the conclusion of the bike tour at the bike festival on Staten Island, N.Y., riders and their families can visit the Commerce Bank tent and sign the wall panel, which is created from recycled fabrics, and leave their green signature or pledge to be more environmentally friendly. Commerce is also handing out backpacks made from recycled materials.
