HOUSTON, TX--Transwestern's Houston headquarters is furthering its commitment to conserve energy and manage costs by implementing Earth Day activities across its national portfolio of managed properties.
Working in partnership with fellow ENERGY STAR(r) award winner Sylvania, Transwestern initiated its
Ready...Set...GREEN program. Although kicked off on Earth Day, Ready...Set...GREEN is a year-round program dedicated to educating building tenants on ways to reduce their environmental footprint.
Transwestern will also utilize the program to educate its team members and provide its clients with sustainable, energy efficient solutions for their real estate.
Ready...Set...GREEN's first events, held on April 22, 2008 (Earth Day), took place at Transwestern managed properties across the nation. In cooperation with the EPA's "Change a Light" program, Ready...Set...GREEN encourages tenants to switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs at home.
Transwestern purchased the bulbs at a reduced rate for distribution to tenants. Sylvania and Transwestern also handed out many other pieces of information for tenants to take home and share with their families and friends. Such materials included energy saving tips for the home, the reduced cost Sylvania CF 13EL/Mini Twist light bulbs, the EPA's "Guide to Saving Our Planet" which included games and puzzles for children. Transwestern also supplied Ready...Set...GREEN posters to its property
managers to place in building common areas and pass out to tenants.
Transwestern manages over 595 properties, totaling 124 million square feet across the country. A majority of those properties participated in some type of Earth Day activity in addition to Ready...Set...GREEN, depending on what best suited the tenants.
