NEW BRUNSWICK--The best of the commercial real estate industry will be celebrated for their achievements at the Twenty-first Annual Commercial Real Estate Awards Gala.
The awards will be presented by the New Jersey Chapter of National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NJ-NAIOP), on Thursday, May 15, at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark. In keeping with NAIOP’s commitment to sustainability, this year’s Gala is “going green.”
In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of the Gala, the association has implemented the following:
* Electronic Marketing: due to an overwhelming response to the members-only Gala ticket pre-sale, more than 560 tickets were sold without the need for mass “snail mailings.”
* E-Commerce: credit cards are now accepted for the purchase of Gala tickets and journal pages, thereby reducing the paper and energy associated with the mailing of invoices and payments by check.
* Green Printing: NJ-NAIOP is working with New Line Printing & Technology Solutions to print the Gala Journal and invitations “green” for the first time. The use of soy inks and recycled paper assist in the reduction of emissions that cause air pollution. Soybean agriculture uses only 0.5% of the total energy needed to produce soy ink. Soybeans remove damaging carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as they grow, and soy ink is naturally low in Volatile Organic Compounds, which evaporate and react to sunlight. Recycled paper conserves resources, generates less pollution during manufacturing (since the fibers have already been processed once) and reduces solid waste by diverting usable paper from the waste stream.
* All Gala participants are being urged to help the Gala be as green as possible by: using credit cards and email to purchase tickets and journal pages; sending journal page copy electronically; and carpooling to the Gala.
Isaac (Ike) Heller, Chairman of the Board of Heller Industrial Parks, Inc., will receive NJ-NAIOP’s highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented in recognition of his long and distinguished record of service to the industry and the community, as well as his many personal accomplishments. The prestigious Impact Awards will be presented to Normandy Real Estate Partners and Whitesell Construction Company, Inc. in recognition of their significant impact as industry trendsetters. Frank M. McDonough, President of the New York Shipping Association, will receive the Industry Service Award.
The winner of the Economic Impact Deal of the Year Award will be announced at the Gala.
The black-tie event will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a Welcome Reception, followed by the Awards Ceremony and the Grand Reception. James Petrucci of J. G. Petrucci Co., Inc. and Gretchen Wilcox of G.S. Wilcox & Co. are co-chairs of the Gala.
