HOBOKEN-- Bijou Properties' Garden Street Lofts is registered to be Hoboken’s first Silver LEED-certified “green” residential building, and prospective buyers are responding well--30% percent of the homes have been sold.
One-, two- and three-bedroom homes are available, some with decks, featuring various floor plans of up to 2,124 sf, up to 3 bedrooms and up to 3 baths. The sixth and seventh floors are reserved for two duplex penthouses with three bedrooms, offering up to 1,400 sf of outdoor living with a hot tub. Inside, they offer 2,124 sf of living space with a fireplace and 24-foot ceilings.
Garden Street Lofts will be constructed to achieve a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification. The LEED rating system was initiated by the U.S. Green Building Council to recognize buildings that are designed to be high performance, energy efficient, sustainable and environmentally conscious.
The new homes will be finished with non-toxic paints, adhesives and finishes. Special window glass and glazing will help maintain optimal indoor temperatures, resulting in lower energy consumption and bills. Low-flow fixtures will conserve water, while power will be purchased from wind and other alternative energy sources. A “green roof” with specifically chosen plants and soils will absorb rainfall and prevent storm water runoff, and help provide insulation.
