GreenHomeNYC Hosts Room At GreenHouse Effect By Betsy Kraat

BROOKLYN, NY--GreenHomeNYC, a community-oriented, volunteer-run organization dedicated to the promotion of environmentally sustainable green buildings, will sponsor a room at the GreenHouse Effect at greenbelt this weekend and next weekend.

The GreenHouse Effect is a showcase of attainable, sustainable urban living. Green products and green choices will be organized spatially according to likely uses in the various rooms of a custom-designed model apartment will feature a wide spectrum of sustainable products, services and ideas for a greener world and a healthier life.

Greenbelt is the first LEED certified, small-scale condo project opening in Brooklyn. Integrating every aspect of environmental and social responsible building, Greenbelt strives to be as low impact as possible. The building is designed to save more than 40% on energy use, 30% of water conserved, to improve indoor air quality, and to use 40% green, recycled, rapidly renewable and certified materials. Greenbelt is a project of Dwelling Research Corp., a joint venture undertaken by Gregory Merryweather, Architect, and Derek Denckla, Propeller Group.

GreenHouse Effect is supported by Community Energy Solutions, Peak Organic Brewing Company, East Williamsburg Valley Industrial Development Corporation, Industrial & Technology Assistance Corporation, Propeller Group and aptsandlofts.com. Community Partners include New York Industrial Retention Network and GreenHomeNYC with additional support from Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment, The Green Guide and Just Food
