NYC Receives Support, Kudos For Proposed Bag Recycling By Betsy Kraat

NEW YORK CITY--The Progressive Bag Alliance (PBA), a nonprofit association started by the nation's plastic bag manufacturers to encourage the environmentally responsible use of plastic bags, testified
today in support of New York City Council Intro 640 to establish a plastic bag recycling program at certain New York City stores.

The proposed legislation is a smart step in the right direction to help reduce waste and protect the environment and demonstrates a rational, practical approach to environmental policy.

Working in partnership with policy makers, businesses and community members, PBA is dedicated to establishing measurable programs that will address environmental concerns and show progress. The Progressive Bag Alliance "Bring It Back" campaign is a nationwide recruitment and education
campaign designed to enlist retailers in recycling programs.
