Whitman Cos. Offers Continuing Ed at Rutgers By Betsy Kraat

NEW BRUNSWICK-- Technological, industrial and legal decision makers, as well as professionals involved in site investigation and remediation, are invited to attend a one-day, continuing education class focused on innovative technologies used in site remediation at Rutgers University on December 14.

The Whitman Companies' vice president of site investigation Richard D. Britton will moderate the course and discuss the importance of proper site investigation.

Vice president of site remediation David Robinson and senior project manager Edward Sullivan will present previous success stories during the class. Sullivan will discuss a former industrial site where bioremediation methods helped drastically reduce the amount of chlorinated solvents present at the site. Robinson will present a case study where using zero-valent iron and other chemical reductants were used to treat chlorinated contaminants and oxidized metals.

The course is aimed at industry professionals and will focus on choosing the right technology, or combination of technologies, and delivery methods for given site conditions. In addition to earning Rutgers Continuing Education Credits, the course credits can also be applied to New Jersey Health Officers, New York State Professional Engineers and New York and Pennsylvania Legal Education credits.
