MTA In Hot Water? By Jodi LaMarco

The MTA has announced its strategy to control subway flooding, but the financially burdened organization has yet to disclose how it intends to pay for the necessary improvements.

Short-term solutions could cost as much as $30 million, and complicated projects may cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Plans include the establishment of an emergency response hub as well as new subway entrance designs.

Last month, an intense storm shut down subway lines in New York City for several hours, affecting as many as 2.3 million riders.
