Humans In Search of Luxury Housing Wreak Havoc Across Western U.S. By Jodi LaMarco

In the Western U.S., development along with a lack of food caused by drought and late freezes is pushing black bears out of their homes.

Game wardens in northwest Wyoming have reported that black bears remaining on prime habitat now being dominated by a luxury housing development have been seen rooting through garbage cans, sleeping on lawns, and entering homes.

Wildlife officials have been forced to retaliate by exterminating the animals. Widening territorial conflicts have also resulted in a record number of black bear shootings in Colorado.
