Ringwood Residents Sue Ford By Jodi LaMarco

Ford Motor Co. is being sued by 650 residents of Ringwood, New Jersey for dumping waste at a local landfill between 1967 and 1971.

The dumped contaminants originated at a former Ford facility in Mahwah and have been blamed for asthma, cancer and other ailments among the plaintiffs.

Ford has petitioned for all 45 separate suits to be evaluated by one judge specializing in environmental cases. Ford claims that bringing the suits to a specialized court would ensure "uniform decisions of law...as opposed to potentially diverse, duplicative and conflicting rulings."
