Site in Kearny Declared Superfund By Jodi LaMarco

The Standard Chlorine Chemical site in Kearny, New Jersey has been declared a federal Superfund area.

Toxins that have contaminated the property's soil and lagoons have leached into the Hackensack River as well as nearby wetlands.

Officials estimate that the clean-up will take between five and 10 years to complete and is likely to cost tens of millions of dollars.
