Out With The Trash

Officials in Morris County are working to get recycling quotas back up to par.
While state law requires the county to recycle 60 percent of its waste, Morris relies on an out-of-state dump--which is typically expensive--to take care of the rest. Over a span of 10 years, the county's overall recycling has slipped from 65 to 54 percent, partially due to a decrease in the price of trash disposal.
The New Jersey DEP is now requiring all counties to overhaul their recycling programs in order to combat the problem.
