Texas Is #1 By Jodi LaMarco

The Environmental Integrity Project has reported that Texas contains five out of 50 power plants accused of emitting the largest amounts of CO2 in the country.

Coal-fired energy plants account for most of the facilities on the top-50 list, and the study also found that while CO2 emissions fell from 2005 to 2006, reluctance to shut coal plants due in part to an increase in energy demands could force national emissions to rise an additional 34 percent by 2030.
