The Downside To Downsizing

As of 2010, Ford’s Australian unit will stop making six-cylinder engines at its plant in Geelong after lagging sales prompted the facility to downsize.
Australian car buyers have been opting for smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles in response to rising gas prices and in anticipation of new emissions standards.
The plant says it will now be forced to import their engines, resulting in the loss of 600 jobs.
