E.I. Du Pont de Nemours & Company will spend $66 million to control air pollution at sulfuric acid production plants in four states, and pay a civil penalty of $4.125 million in accordance with the Clean Air Act settlement.

EPA assistant administrator Granta Y. Nakayama said that the settlement will, "reduce harmful air pollutants by more than 13,000 tons per year," at plants in Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky, and Louisiana.

"The actions taken today will ensure that those affected will be able to breathe easier knowing these pollutants will no longer be in the air."
