English Water Plant Worth Its Salt By Jodi LaMarco

Beckton, Engliand will soon become the home of the UK's first desalination plant.

The site will begin producing up to 140m literes of clean drinking water daily for people in London and the south-east by 2009.

Richard Ayland of Thames Water supported the project by saying, "With pressures such as climate change and population growth, the plant is essential alongside our continuing progress in reducing leakage and proposals for a new reservoir in Oxfordshire."
