Italian Workers Loosen Their Ties By Jodi LaMarco

The Italian health ministry has asked that workers throughout the country be permitted to dress casually during the hot summer months in order to cut down on air conditioning needs.

“Taking your tie off immediately lowers the body temperature by two to three degrees Celsius,” said officials.
Relaxing rules on conventional office dress codes can allow for a “more sensible use of air conditioning that yields electricity savings and protects the environment."
