Indonesia Burning By Jodi LaMarco

Greenpeace claims that vast areas of Indonesia's peat forests are still being burned to make way for palm oil plantations even though the government has vowed to stop the fires.

According to a report sponsored by the World Bank and the British government, Indonesia is the third largest producer of greenhouse gases due largely to the environmental havoc wrought by the fires. The country has also become the world's second largest palm-oil producer, with five million hectares currently under cultivation.
