The Union of Concerned Scientist along with a team of independent economists and scientists has created a report predicting the possible effects of climate change on nine states if warming trends continue through the end of the century.
Temperatures could increase by upwards of 10 degrees Fahrenheit, leading to shorter winters, earlier springs, and longer summers. Rising sea levels would create flooding on Long Island and in Lower Manhattan as well as summer droughts in the Catskills.
The study reflects the importance of controlling pollution linked to global warming.
