Little China Is Growing Up By Jodi LaMarco

U.K. Foreign Office director John Ashton claims that China is building roughly two power plants per week.

According to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, China's rapid development caused its emissions to rise nine percent last year, compared to a 1.4 percent increase in the U.S. despite estimations that the average Chinese citizen emits far less CO2 than the average American.

Greenpeace UK director John Sauven attributed the increase to western demand for cheap labor, saying, "All we've done is export a great slice of the west's carbon footprint to China, and today we see that result."
