China Surpasses U.S. on Emissions By Jodi LaMarco

According to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, China has surpassed the U.S. as the world’s largest emitter of CO2.

The organization based its findings on energy-use data from the International Energy Agency, cement data from the U.S. Geological survey, and estimates on fossil fuel use reported by BP. Although China has surpassed the U.S. in its overall emissions, the United States produces four times as much CO2 per capita.
