Our Department stories run 750 words. We run feature articles of 1,000 to 2,000 words.

The rate of payment for work published in New York House is $.10 per word. New York House reserves the right not to publish any story submitted to us if it does not meet our editorial standards, even if the editor has initially given a writer the "go-ahead" for a story idea. If a story is purchased, New York House owns first-time North American print and Web rights, which revert to the writer after a period of three months.
